President’s Message June 2013

As the new chapter president I would like to thank the board of directors for allowing me to serve for the next two years, and look forward to offering my knowledge and service by being a representative of all of you as members. In years past, we have all struggled through the difficult downturn in the economy, and I am excited for the future of our local NECA chapter as the economy continues to turn around and the work picture looks brighter. As we work together towards common goals the electrical contracting business will continue to be strong and profitable for us all. We would like to recognize Chris Thomson for his dedicated service as the previous president, and appreciate the time and energy he put into making our chapter a success. We would also like to congratulate Rich Kingery for being re-elected as the business manager of Local Union #354, and look forward to working with him and his staff in the future. There are several upcoming NECA events such as the Five Mountain Rendezvous in Sun Valley, Idaho August 1st-4th.  We would like high attendance of NECA members, because it is an invaluable opportunity for networking, and professional development for each attendee. In October is the Gettysburg Historical Chapter Tour scheduled before the NECA National Convention in Washington, D.C. which has been arranged by Tim Homer of Wasatch Electric, which will be a noteworthy historical learning experience and a wonderful opportunity to get to know fellow members of our chapter as we walk together on hallowed ground. Just as Abraham Lincoln said in the Gettysburg address, “It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.”  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me, and I look forward to seeing you in Sun Valley.
